Fall is in the Air.

The recent cool temperatures are a reminder that summer won’t last forever.

The Tropical-looking elephant ear (colocasia) plant pictured above is a great example of a plant that needs special care to survive the Ohio winter. All summer long, elephant ears add exotic beauty to a landscape, but they cannot survive freezing temperatures and they must be cut back, dug up and stored indoors.

Cooler weather doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors, however.

A fire pit is a great way to keep warm and create memories with your family and friends as the temperature begins to drop.

You can almost smell the spiced cider and s’mores!

In this hectic, fast paced world we live in, it can be hard to slow down and connect with the people who are important to you. The magical thing about a fire is the way it creates a golden aura of light and warmth, a focal point that draws people in for those special moments.

Landscape beds, lawns, patios, and pergolas all serve to make your living space expansive. Family and friends can spread out and socialize, children can run and play.  A fire pit, however, shrinks the world down to an intimate circle.

Before electronic screens became the default family past time, people gathered around the fire and got to know each other, not streaming videos.

Make your fire pit a screen-free zone, and be prepared to be amazed by the joys of life beyond the smart phone or tablet.
