2020

Leaf it to Us.

Suddenly, fall is in the air. After months of rain and a bit of high temperatures, the leaves are turning and you can almost smell the campfires in the air.

For us, this time of year marks the beginning of a shift from summer, to fall, and then winter work.

A.B.W. Landscaping is your year-round, professional outdoor partner.

Autumn leaves are pretty, but left on your lawn and landscape beds, they can be potentially harmful. For your lawn, excessive leaves can cause snow mold, dangerous slippery conditions and other perils. In your landscape beds, not only are leaves unsightly, but they create a perfect, cozy habitat for pests like mice and voles. Of course, once it gets cold enough, they’ll move from the leaves into your house! We can help by keeping your lawn and landscape neat and tidy with fall clean-up services.

To keep you warm on those chilly evenings, we have seasoned firewood available for delivery.

And once that cold white stuff starts to fly, we also offer snow removal, including plowing, salt application and sidewalk shoveling. Don’t hesitate to contact us; A.B.W. Landscaping, LLC is here to help!

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy.

It’s said that “Summertime” is the most covered song ever, with over 25,000 different versions. It is a deceptively complex song; a few simple lines fraught with nuanced feeling. It celebrates the natural joy of summer, while never quite letting go of the notion that the easy days won’t last. It is an idea that resonates with us all.  Summer is a time of relaxation, but it is also a time to get things done, whether vacations or home improvements. We enjoy it, but we know that if we do not stay focused, summer will slip by. First fall, and then winter, will be here. Once that time comes, whatever plans we may have had will remain unfinished.

It’s a Jungle out there.

OK, it might not be a literal jungle, but this spring has been extremely wet. By all accounts, it has been the rainiest Ohio spring in 120 years. So much rain means saturated ground, mud, floods and delays.

A.B.W. Landscaping, LLC is used to all types of weather. Hot, cold, snow, sunshine, rain…we can usually find a way to keep moving forward no matter what Mother Nature throws at us!

Of  course, some days the weather manages to get the upper hand, but we regroup, set our alarm clocks anew, and remain optimistic for the next morning.

After all, it is inevitable,

Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall.

“If what I say resonates with you, it is merely because we are both branches on the same tree.”

Poetry of Plants?

If poetry is the arrangement of words into something greater than the sum of their parts, it stands to reason that landscaping is the poetry of plants.

In philosophy, this is called emergence. Emergence occurs when an entity is observed to have properties its parts do not have on their own. These properties or behaviors emerge only when the parts interact in a wider whole.

Combined into something more, words can possess a beauty and meaning they lack on their own. The emergent result can be joyful.

All beings are flowers
Blossoming
In a blossoming universe.

(Nakagawa Soen Roshi, 1907-1984)

The same holds true of landscaping materials. Mulch, rocks, plants, trees, bricks and cement are like words in a dictionary until they are combined into beauty.

Just like poetry, it takes skill, experience and thoughtfulness to create a beautiful landscape. Since 2005, A.B.W. Landscaping, LLC has been turning materials into the poetry of plants.

If you would like your home to be surrounded in beauty; if you would like your heart to soar with joy and delight, we can help.  Talk to Nathan today to begin.

Spring is Coming.

Unlike a certain TV show where ‘winter is coming’ relentlessly, here in NE Ohio, the sun is shining and the days are longer and warmer.

Spring is coming.

The daffodils and tulips are appearing, trees are budding and the spring peepers are getting louder. It seems like this has been a particularly long and cold winter, but that just means the changing of the seasons will be all the more magical.

Here at A.B.W. Landscaping, LLC, we are getting geared up for another great year of making outdoor dreams come true. The best part of our business is our clients. This season we are excited to continue to nurture existing connections and to build lasting relationships with new customers.

April is New Customer Month. We invite you to plant the seeds of friendship and grow with us.

Don’t Get Snowed In.

Ohio weather is nothing if not unpredictable. Especially the North Coast.

Within 48 hours we experienced:

-50+ degrees

-High winds and rain while the sun shone (complete with a double rainbow!)

-The first January tornado in 11 years

-Over a foot of snow in many areas

Thanks to Lake Erie’s effect on our weather, you can wake up to a snowy disaster outside, which can result in stressful and unsafe conditions for you and your family, loved ones, and employees.

snowy cars
A familiar, if unwelcome sight for Ohioans!

We know the meteorologists try their best to get it right, but it’s not easy. Lake effect snow is a subject filled with uncertainty, unpredictability, and terms like “orographic effect” and “latent heat release”.

Without a clear plan in place, you can find yourself trying to cope with dangerous and messy snow at the worst possible times.

At A.B.W. Landscaping, LLC,  we can help. We offer residential, industrial/commercial, and municipal snow removal and salt application. We take care of the snow, so you don’t have to.

Why struggle with snapped snow shovel handles, balky snowblowers, wet gloves, “waterproof” boots, and trips to the chiropractor?

To say nothing of the frustration of being the unwilling participant in a game of phone tag with some “plow guy” who said he was an hour away…three hours ago.

Instead of headaches and backaches, you can enjoy a long hot shower and that second cup of coffee, knowing that A.B.W. has cleared the way for you to go about your business.

But should you decide to stay in and curl up by the hearth anyway, we have split, seasoned fire wood available for delivery as well!

Summer Fireworks

The first day of summer is nearly here!

Summer is all about outdoor fun, recreation and relaxation. You could fight the crowds and traffic on the 4th of July, or you could unwind and enjoy an intimate evening at home with friends and family.

A fire pit is more inviting and just as beautiful as a municipal fireworks display. And the family dog will be a lot happier!

At A.B.W. Landscaping, LLC, we have been helping clients create memories since 2005. It may be too late for that 4th of July cookout, but there is still plenty of time for us to make your outdoor dreams come true…and plenty of time for you to enjoy it!

April Fools’

It seems like nature has been playing jokes on us all month!

We took these pictures of snowy daffodils last week, but we know that soon the cold weather will be a thing of the past.
